Tools for arthritic hands and thumbs

judysgardens(7)May 1, 2011

Over the past few years I have developed severe osteoarthritis in both of my thumb joints. I had surgery on my left and recently on my right, but still get a lot of pain. I have a large garden and find that using pruners causes a lot of lasting pain. Even the Felco rotating ones. I am wondering if anyone has used the cordless Craftsman pruners from Sears and if they really work. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for weeding tools for arthritic hands?

Thanks so much,

Judysgardens

I bought a battery powered recip saw that helps. I would like to have some sort of battery powered loppers or a ratcheting lopper.

The battery tools are nice, but a little heavy.

Larry, the cordless recip saw is a great idea for thicker cuts on shrubs and small trees. I'm going to go to sears tomorrow and pick up these cordless hand pruners. I read some reviews and people like them. We'll see.
