First bloom of the season

dizzylizzy415April 22, 2014

This is a picture of a twilight zone that I planted this spring. It is my first bloom, and I am happy with the plant that has lots of buds, but the color is not exactly what I expected. This is more a wine than a deep purple. Is this what is usual?

From what I have seen of them, the darker purples can be a variable color. They are not always consistent. That does not mean that they can't be quite attractive. They are just don't always come out the color that may be expected. Possible reasons are sunlight angle and intensity and temperature.
