Sheep manure

A local farmer has a endless supply of sheep manure, useally has a large pile. He typically spreads it on his feilds, but said I can have all I want.

Is sheep manure ok/safe for veggie gardens and composting?

Certainly safe for composting but better to compost before applying to veggie beds. Sheep manure is considered a 'hot' manure and may burn plants if applied directly. Plus, there are always issues of disease pathogens with regards to edible plants that are most effectively dealt with by composting. NPK will be similar to that of horse manure.....and if grazed sheep, may contain as many weed seeds too.
