serious trimming

organic_eugeneAugust 18, 2010

Hello, We've retired to acreage here in northern New Mexico. I have purchased an ECHO 280T trimmer which is supposed to be very good. It is, it has the right gear ratio, the speed head for replacing line, the only thing is the line simply cannot last here due to the amount of weeds and their thickness. I am using the Gator line, which has steel in it and yet even that is inadequate for some of the weeds here. I wish to reduce some of the sunflowers which we have in great abundance. I know this tool can do the job, but apparently I need a head and some other cutting device which will both a/ cut larger diameter weeds and brush b./ last while its doing so.

There are a lot of options out there, and I would appreciate it if I could get your insights as to what is the best option.

Thanks in advance

I have a Green Machine and it came with a blade that resembles a circular saw blade.

It is intended for this type of use but I have never used mine because I am afraid of what might happen if I hit a rock.

Something like that would probably do what you need.

My dad use to use a sickle bar mower on his land and that would definitely do the job too.

I missed the topic below called Brush Cutter Blades and that describes the blade I was talking about.
