almond tree maybe?

rmbill(6a)February 23, 2014

I purchased 3 Super Sweet Nectarine trees a couple of years ago. Last spring they all blossomed but one of them had different looking blossoms than the others. They were breathtakingly beautiful. A frost killed the blossoms on the 2 trees but the other one set a bunch of fruit. It was like a small peach and fuzzy. I thought it might have been apricots since I was sure that it wasn't a nectarine. When the fruit should have been ripe I tasted one and it wasn't something that you would eat. I have been thinking that maybe it is an almond instead of what it was supposed to be. Could I tell the difference by the blossoms? I will be tickled if it is an almond as it is a nice sized tree now. I have two 2 year old Hales Hardy Almond trees but they aren't of any size yet.
How would I know if it was a sweet or bitter almond.
