Early 70's Sears mower with 8 HP Rototiller

dimnova36September 24, 2009

I just recently bought an early to mid 70's sears ss16 lawn mower with a roto tiller attachment. The housing for the gears on the tiller just broke and i have been having trouble finding a place that sells replacement parts. The plate on the housing of the tiller says 9172511890 and the serial number is 4259. Does anyone know where i can find parts for this tiller. I think the tiller is actually made by roper. Its looks to be about 36" wide and it gets towed behind the lawn mower.

Thanks for looking

Mike

You are correct, the tractor and tiller were made by Roper which disappeared years ago. That was a very good unit but parts have pretty much dried up. The tines have been obsolete for some time so don't get too hopeful about anything else.

I have a Sears 8 hp front tine two speed tiller Model # 91729 7580, serial # 2727 B10077. I am trying to find parts. It has an 8 hp Briggs & Straton engine.
