I have about a 1/4lb of stale not decaf coffee that I won't use.
Anything bad about tossing it into the compost or should it be ground?
Won't hurt anything, although the beans may take a long time to actually break down. OTOH they are so small they shouldn't be a bother in the final product.
fritz, just coffee grounds? No prob! Nancy
The nutrients in coffee grounds about 2 -.6 -.6 with a pH around 6.2. Use them in either place.

this is ground unused coffee beans as they are stale.
just wanted to clarify
Ground is better anyway. :-]
I'd just put them in the compost, just as I do with used coffee grounds. They will be a nice mix-in for your pile.
