My ex-wife lives in the Anaheim area, but when she saw the photo of this rose growing in my back yard in Alabama she wanted to know if it would grow well in her area. Has anyone in the L.A. area had experience with it?
The Fairy will grow here. It is highly susceptible to mildew and crown gall in our soils and climate, as are its descendants such as the Flower Carpets and Drift Roses. But, yes, she can grow it, at least for a few years. I have replaced one at one garden three times over the past ten years because they love it. Kim
Suggest 'Sweet Chariot' instead. Lots of little flowers, but delightfully fragrant, and happier in So Cal.
Plus, Sweet Chariot is incredibly fragrant. Kim
