I just convinced my youngest, A 16 year old boy, to cook dinner once a week as a "survival skill" He's making sloppy joes from scratch, not a can, right now! LOL. I'm such a good Mom!.
Thursday nights are off for me!!!
Good job Laura! His wife will thank you someday.
Keep a fire extinguisher handy and make sure he knows that you're not supposed to bring oil to a boil so you don't come home to fire trucks in the driveway like I did.
My son made tacos tonight.
I took him to our local grocery store and helped him shop for the ingredients and it was pretty funny, but he did it!
we'll stay away from frying for a while. thanks!
Since I discovered Love and Logic parenting, we have had each of the two kids responsible for two dinners each week--from start to finish, as in, kitchen clean & dishes loaded/put away/ready for the next meal. Quality of meals went down a bit at first, because they are too "smart" to need to ask for help, but they're getting the hang of it. It's so nice to know that I have the night off when I'm working all day!
Good for you--how were the 'joes? Gonna have to teach the kiddos how to make those!
Teenagers....cook...dinner? Hmm, too late for me; guess I missed the boat. I can only be thankful that they're out on their own now - DD rose to the challenge; DS is working on it - at least he's past Ramen noodles for supper every night, LOL.
Mine cook. We're Top Chef junkies and cook along with them. Folks gotta eat.
