Do I need to water Mulberry Trees during drought?

salan10April 6, 2013

I live in Albuquerque New Mexico which is unfortunately experiencing a multi-year drought with no end in sight. I have three mature Mulberry Trees. Two of them are within the drip irrigation system of a xeriscaped garden with from only six to ten individual drip units.

I have had these trees for the past seventeen years (they are each much older than that) and have never watered them with a garden hose.

Do I need to water the trees during the drought?

I would only water them if they appear to need to be watered. When you do water them, remember that occasional deep waterings or preferable to constant or multiple light waterings.
