In my zone, this considered an annual (unless you want to dig it up and store it like a canna). I usually just direct sow these every spring. Is there a benefit to winter sowing annuals?

Your photos are beautiful! It sure is inspiring!

Mirabilis is an annual here as well. My mother always had a long row that she direct sowed each spring in SD.

One benefit of ws annuals is having them in pots which can be moved around in the garden to add a bit of color as perennials go out of bloom or to place around the house.

I'm glad the photos are inspiring you. That was my purpose in posting them.
