JD GT-275 smoking on start up

kkarnsJuly 2, 2010

Hey folks, My JD GT-275 has started puffing blue smoke on start-up and continues until its warmed up good and then it stops smoking. Runs fine and starts fine. I'm guessing head gasket, warped head, cracked head?? as the clue may be that it corrects itself when it gets hot. Puzzling that it runs good the entire time. I do get a back-fire every time I shut it down from hot?

Are you starting to get oil into the air cleaner?
