Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my maple tree?

Nathaniel3WMay 4, 2014

I have a very sad looking maple tree that had a lot of dead, broken, and drooping branches. I cut off some of the worst offenders yesterday and I found a lot of these marks on them. Any idea what's wrong with my tree and how to keep these things from getting onto the other branches?

Looks like some kind of canker disease, maybe "Eutypella parasitica". I don't think you can save that tree.
