Dwarf Flowering Cherry Trees

susandonb(NC 7)May 17, 2007

My neighbor put in a big order of plants and got 3 dwarf flowering cherry trees. She got so much stuff that she decided she didnt want these and brought them to me. All the tag says is dfct, no nmae and I didnt ask her where she got them. They are very small with a few yellowing green sprouts on them. They have very long roots. What I am wondering is, should I pot them up into pots for a while, they look kind of flimsy to plant right into the ground?

Also, I dont know much about them, only that they flower and are very pretty if they grow into a tree.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am in zone 7 NC.

Always better in the ground unless for you it is easier to get stuff through the summer in pots. Do get into ground as soon as leaves drop this coming fall.
