Pecan Tree?

Is this a Pecan Tree? Or maybe Black Walnut? Or something else??

Its leaves certainly look like I remember the pecan trees in my backyard in Dallas. But I can't swear to it.

Not black walnut. A B.W. wouldn't have the terminal central leaflet (at the leaf tip, sticking out); instead the end of the leave would be 2 leaflets sticking out to the sides, like Spock's hand doing a 'Live long and prosper' thing.

I hope somehow that made sense.

I don't know more than that. Count the leaflets on a leaf. Might help break it down a bit further, since pecan, hickory and ash have that type of leaf, if memory serves.

Agree, looks like pecan - and I'd hazard a guess that in your area, that'd be the mostly likely candidate.
Closely-related Carya species, like C.aquatica (bitter pecan), C.cordiformis(bitternut hickory) would have to be ruled out, as leaflet numbers are similar, etc.
