small gladiola flowers

babera(5a (Montana))July 31, 2014

My glads finally bloomed but they are so small. About the size of a ping pong ball. This is the third growing season for them. The first year they were a bit bigger than this but I expected that not knowing the age of the bulbs (if that matters) last year they were a decent size, not huge but bigger than this. They grow in full (all day) sun, they are kept evenly watered, mostly less frequent deep watering. Not only are they small blooms but they only last about 4 days. . . :( any help out there?
