Input on seeds

msmashy(NJ/6)January 27, 2012

I am in zone 6 (7a on the new map) and I have the following seeds. I want to sow some this weekend. Would love to get some input on any that I should hold off on for now.

Cathedral bells

Pepperbox breadseed poppy

watch the basil. it's not happy if it's germinated and temp dips below 40. otherwise....go for it.

I'd even hold on the basil until spring. It won't sprout until temps are pretty warm, and then it won't grow quickly until temp stay warm. The rest I'd go for now.

I would wait on the Alternanthera until spring also. It is from the tropics and very tender.

I've had gomphrena seeds rot when planted too early, so I'd suggest waiting on those too - maybe sow in early-mid March.

I second the motion on the Alternanthera's. They like it hot.
