crepe myrtle scant blooms help! not blooming well
This Miami or Sioux (not sure which, lost it's tag) Crepe Myrtle was planted 2 yrs ago. It has never bloomed well.
It is now July 24 th. Like last year, it grew about 3 ft or more of long limbs and it's just recently produced the few small buds you see here ( I think there is one larger bud) .
It receives 8 hours of full sun each day. Other Crepe Myrtles in my area are in much less sun and they are either full of buds or fully blooming.
I trimmed it just a little during the month of February. No fertilizer , just applied some compost with wood chips in Late May / early June.. I do not fertilize my lawn.
As you can see I pulled the compost / wood chips (about 2 - 3 inches worth) away from the base. Does it appear that it has sunk or was planted too deeply?
PLEASE HELP!!! Why won't it bloom profusely?
Should I wait it out till next year or dig it up and get a better specimen?
PLEASE.....also if you can help identify if it's a Sioux or Miami that would be appreciated.
