Id round fuzzy floating tree seeds?

kunaJuly 8, 2013

Here in NE NJ we have a lot of these round, almost sea urchin shaped fuzz seeds that float in the wind. I'm pretty sure that they are not dandelions as they are bigger and most dandelions have gone away by this time. Most of the seeds have a small hollow ring in the middle where I guess the seed or seed stalk was held when it blew in the wind. I'm not sure if these are cottonwood because they seem slightly different
