Helenium, should it be still healthy around this time?

paulsiu(5a)September 18, 2011

I notice the Helenium I gave a friend to plant in spring is now mostly brown. I wonder if it is dead. The aster and bee balm I also gave her are still OK, so I wonder perhaps the Helenium needs more water than the other two plants.

This can be different in different varieties. The leaves on some of mine are already nearly 'gone', but none is 100% brown yet. The most important thing is whether you can see the new rosettes for the next year growth at the base of the old stems.
