Can't Identify Red Gall on Black Walnut

scivi92July 30, 2014

I've got some reddish growth all over the stems and branches of my black walnut tree which I believe are galls. I'm not certain though. Is this something someone on this forum can identify and describe to me? I've uploaded a photo. Thanks!

Evidence of velvet gall mite. A pretty harmless creature, all in all.
