Clay soil and perennials
What perennials grow well in clay soil?
My large hostas and my small hostas grow well because the large ones can cut through the clay and the small ones are doing well within the compost I added. Unfortunately I'm potting up my mediums, but at least I'll still have them.
What's also doing well so far are hydrangeas, daylilies, variegated lilyturf, Japanese Maple.
I'm looking for perennials that are hardy, compact, not tall and straggly, non invasive roots, and will keep a formal appearance to this bed.
I know for sure that the cushion mums die on me over the winter so that's out.
I'd certainly appreciate any ideas. Thanks alot.
