help! please! need to know what tree has been in our yard. thank you all
without a close-up picture of the foliage to get a clear look at the leaves it's REALLY hard to tell what you have with any degree of certainty. that said, i would go out on a horticultural limb (LOL) and hazard a guess and say you MIGHT have some kind of ash---possibly "moraine" ash (fraxinus holotricha "moraine") or "raywood" ash (f. angustifolia "raywood")????
ok cool heres a close up. ive spent some time doing leaf identification and just cant find a tree that looks similar.
and here's another
it's definitely an ash/fraxinus species. FWIW, if the fall color is a burgundy red it's likely "raywood" and if it's yellow it's "moraine". there are several other ash species and hybrids in cultivation in california (including the once common f. velutina "modesto"/modesto ash) but iMHO they tend to have somewhat broader leaflets than the relatively narrow ones in the picture. hope this helps.
thanks so much!
Agree w/George -- ash.
Looks like spider-mite stippling (pale dots) on the leaves.
would pyrethrin be a good choice for the spider mites
