Zelkova 'Village Green' vs. 'Green Vase'

hairmetal4ever(Z7 MD)August 15, 2014

Usually I think these are overplanted in the area, but they do serve their purpose.

These are the 2 most common cultivars, but I can't for the life of me tell which one is which...can anyone tell me the primary differences between the two in shape, growth rate, fall color, pest/disease resistance?

The main differences are in habit and fall color. Village Green seems to grow about as wide as tall (see link for good image), while Green Vase is definitely taller than wide. Village Green has dark rusty red fall color; Green Vase tends toward orange or bronze/orange. Green Vase is also a bit more cold hardy.
