Staking a tree that leans
Last year I planted an elm "whip". It was about six feet tall, and when it leafed out the wind started wreaking havoc, so I staked it through the summer, fall, and winter. This spring I figured all was good and removed the stakes. Big mistake. Some nasty spring breezes nearly toppled the now twelve to fifteen foot tree, so I made a valiant attempt to stake the tree before going on vacation. Upon return, it appears as though the tree is still leaning about ten degrees. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it upgright.
