Coreopsis Winter Care

kentstar(5b, NE Ohio)November 10, 2008

Hi all. I planted some Early Sunrise Coreopsis this past fall, a couple of months ago. Should I be pruning them before the snows fall or let them go till spring? Also, the same question on Sunny Border Blue Veronica.

Thanks all

You can cut them back now or wait until spring. Doesn't matter and both are fully hardy through zone 5 (and maybe into 4).

I wait until perennials die back on their own. Once brown and crispy, they virtually break off from base without me having to do a thing. These being new plants, I'd especially wait until spring. They're still getting their roots settled.
