Wife of Bath in North Carolina?

phasedweasel(7b)August 20, 2014

Good morning. I was considering Wife of Bath, for her compact size, reputation as a strong bloomer and strong fragrance. I'm in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Does anyone in this kind of region (somewhat hot and humid) know how she does? Thanks!

Since no one has answered I will, although our climate is very different. She was a delicate little rose for me, although I don't remember any disease, which is not to say your humidity may not cause some. One of the very early Austins and worth preserving if it prospers in your conditions.

In the book, 'For the love of roses in Florida and elsewhere' they recommend 'Wife of Bath.' If it can handle Fl humidity it should be just fine in NC.

Excellent little rose here. Always, always blooming or trying to.
