Belinda's Dream hardiness?

wirosarian_z4b_WIOctober 8, 2013

I've been looking at trying Belinda's Dream but I'm in z4. It is listed a z5 hardy so I'm thinking I should be able to grow it if I winter protect it like my HT's, Gr's & Fl's. Has anyone grown it in z4 & what is your experience?

In the east, it is considered a solid zone 7 rose. Its main problem seems to be a need for real heat to grow. It may be one of those roses that a good rootstock would help push it, and get a bit more functional hardiness out of it. But then you would have to actually find a grafted specimen.

Belinda's Dream is one of the best roses in my garden. I have had it for two years and it has really grown. I have a no spray garden and it does just fine.

I recall a couple of zone 5 growers writing that it was not cane-hardy for them.
