Autumn Surprise!

grandmachrisOctober 6, 2013

This isn't winter sowing but I didn't know where to post it. About May 1 I brought home a very distressed Easter Lily that
no one had picked up after Easter at church. After a few weeks I planted it out in the garden. This morning !! October 6!! a single Easter Lily was blooming in my garden.

When I've tried before they haven't proved very hardy. I wonder.

I've planted them out in zone 7b and they did just fine with little attention. Kept it mulched over the winter.

My fave - especially the smell!

Most Easter lilies are viruses so it might last a year or two. I planted one that lasted two years.
