check out my 'ice storm chair'

Thanks to our recent ice storms, I've taken up a new hobby, "brush pile furniture building". Check out my chair--made from stuff headed for the burn pile! I just wanted to show it off, it's the best thing I've ever made. it's 100% green ice storm damaged tulip tree wood. So it's also from the state tree of Indiana, too.
Thanks for looking...I just wanted to show off a little bit. Here's a link to the picture...

Great chair! The trees here don't work very well for furniture. You did a good job! We do have a few tulip trees around, but not as large as the ones grow in Indiana. We go to Parke county Covered Bridge festival every year so I am familiar with the tulip trees there.

It's wonderful! You must be proud. How long did it take to create it?

RE: check out my 'ice storm chair'

It took me a couple of days to find a pattern on the web, and then a couple of days sorting through the brush and cutting with my handsaw, then putting the pieces together. I'll admit I did need a little help from my hubby Ted in putting it together at times. I just didn't have enough hands to hold everything together, and I flunked wood shop class in high school. All the patterns I found needed willow to bend for the back and seat, and I didn't have that, so we had to modify the plan to use all hardwood, so nothing had to be bent. The plans I used are basically like this link, but then I changed the back by using 3/4-1" sticks for the back and weaving in a couple of pieces of the same size for the half circle parts. The largest pieces of brush you need are 2" in diameter, so it's not too hard to find that if you have 15 ice storm damaged trees!

Sandy,
The chair is really neat - good idea for all you downed limbs. How many do you have done now?

Two done so far! Now I have a loveseat cut out. I'm really having fun with this. I have learned just how much I need to practice my drill/driver skills though.
