Bean inscriptions

I posted this within another thread. But the idea intrigues me so much that I'm hoping someone has a suggestion for "how to". And hopefully this is the right forum.

In a catalog there were single beans planted in a small gift box. When the bean sprouted, there was an inscription on the seed casing. Simple saying like "Hi, Love you, Grow Well, ect". It was imprinted, not a label.

I'd love to do this for simple garden gifts. Large beans for sprouting isn't a big deal. But what could be used to imprint them before planting without harming the seed ?

After a searche, the name of the beans are "Logo Beans", they use laser imprinting. There must be another way to do this.

Did you ever find out how they did this?
