What's your favourite garden music? I vote for Vivaldi while actually working, then Buena Vista Social Club or Cesaria Evora with a glass of wine for end-of-the-day relaxing. How about you?

I vote for Nora Jones, Joss Stone, Solomon Burke, Van Morrison and the great Aaron Neville. Does anyone have speakers in the garden and which kinds are best? Thanks, Ginny

mu music in the garden is the birds, the neighborhod dogs, the cars going by, the train in the distance, even the sirens. I like the sounds of life.

I mainly listen to rock n roll; Rolling Stones, Counting Crows, Cheryl Crow, etc... but also a little bit of country like Cross Canadian Ragweed and Pat Green. I have some outdoor speakers in the greenhouse that look like rocks. I got them at Sears on sale half price, $100 marked down to $50 a pair. They actually sound very good. I was surprised at how good they do sound since I listen to Bose speakers in the house. I blare them loud enough that I can hear them all over my little farm. :) The plants in the greenhouse must like it too, because they thrive. I get a lot more work done in the yard and gardens when I have loud music playing.

I'm with Danaoh. I work in the city so when I am gardening at home on our 5 acres I LOVE THE PEACE AND QUIET!!! Our place is so quiet I can hear the flies!!! Hey - but give me a glass of a good red wine and some R & B at the end of the day! |

I too love the sounds of nature and just kinda listening for the different bird calls and the bubbling fountain.

I'm with you, Gardinangel. I love the sounds of nature and water splashing in my fountains. DH likes his "noise". He either has a radio or a headset with him. He has TVs in the garage AND THE SHED! Getting his attention is like pulling teeth! I spend a lot of time waving my arms around hoping to catch his eye. Walking talkies are useless. He can't hear them ring. Even tried the vibrating ring. That didn't cut it either! This spring, I'm hanging big bells...front and back yards...to ring when I need him for something! The neighbors are going to love us! LOL Soft music in the evening is lovely when the work is done for the day, and we're sitting in the yard with a drink. Then DH is close enough to see me wave my arms! ~Sandy~
