If so do you have photos? Our house came with a really primitive one in the backyard & we'd like to re-do it.

| I'd be interested in this information. I've also thought about buying one of the metal firepits that are selling now. Does anyone have one of those? Thanks. Billie |

| We are using an old tractor tire rim for now, but this summer I plan to dig a large basin in the ground and rim it in boulders to match the retaining wall. My friends did this and said it was super easy. Linda |

| I'm using the top of an old barbeque, or you can use the bottom. because it is the 'weber' type, 1/2 a circle--I will make a concrete stand for it and surround the base with left over paver stones. We don't sit outside much, but thought it might look nice, and be ready incase we want to use it. |

| I found an old washer tub, and knocked the bottom out of it. It left a stainless steel tube. I dug a hole big enough to put the tub in, and back filled the outside of it. I Dug the hole where the top of the tube was at ground level, and then on the ground around it, I put those retaining wall bricks around the outside, two high. It has been so much fun. I do need to get a grate for the top because I'd like to use it for a grill too. I love it!! |

| Here is instructions and pics of one you can build out of interlocking bricks. I have never done this, just happened to come across this website recently. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Unilock Fire pit

I have a huge open air fire pit out back, surrounded by bricks. Started building this a while ago. Posted on Garden Junk, had some good replies with links how to build brick BBQ think link was HGTV. Still have a long way to go on this one, but like it much better than BBQ'n on gas. |

| I love that unilock firepit. Nice! We have this pit for traveling in the RV and camping. Collapse it and pack it away. http://www.comfortchannel.com/prod.itml/icOid/3034?ovchn=BIZ&ovcpn=Home+and+Garden&ovcrn=Arctic+Folding+Outdoor+Fire+Ring&ovtac=CMP |

It's not the best picture in the world, but it's our firepit, directly off our patio, out of local limestone. |

| here is our backyard campfire pit - brand new. got my eye on a couple of adirondack chairs to go with it. we've had three fires in it so far. once to burn all the deadfall from a storm and yesterday, for the 4th, we made foil packet dinners in the coals. yummy!!

WOW These pics are great! We actually reworked our firepit this weekend after searching for ideas. Here is the before-it actually doesn't look too bad here but it was a mess.
and now, we dug it all out reused the stones & used cement to hold them together. Its taller & bigger than it was, now we need to get the grass to grow back in & we are redoing the crappy patio you see next to it.
