what would you do with these?

I have these branches left over from pruning some very old Lilacs. Any ideas for a fun garden project? I thought of a tepee shaped support, but what would you do?

Here is a link that might be useful: Lilac branches

Sounds like you have the right idea for them. I think that is what I would do. They are too nice to chunk out for sure. Betty

Oh gosh you have so much fun there! Get galvanized screws and a drill and start creating. Dependingon how supple they are you can bend them. Take two long peices that match and screw together about a foot from the bottom. The spread them out and take another branch and screw toone side. Bend your new peice and see how far it will warp or bow. Then when it's not going to split screw it to the other side. It might be almost straigh or really bent, it doesn't matter. As long as it bends some you have the makings of a trellis. You can leave it at one rounded peice or go further and keep adding sections to it. You can even bend it and make a Y or V shape. I have spent many hours getting sunburned (cause I'm so darn white Uh blonde darn ir! LOL ) making trellises cause they are fun to do. But let me warn you once you start you can't stop and will be stalking the neighborhood looking for their prunnigs!! Have fun but son't limit yourstelf to the teepee shape. There are so many fun shapes to make!! Just keep creating and picture what the flowers they will hold!! Don't leave them all lying there on the ground in a heap--replace them all standing in shapes!! It's so easy!! go for it!!

They look kind of cool sitting in the corner - kind of like a sculpture. I think I would secure them there in the corner and attach a number of small bird houses or bird feeders to them.

I took a bunch of similar prunings and laced them together with twine to make a kind of rough screen for vines to grow up. I am going to plant morning glories to climb them.

I created a trellis from some of my old branches, wound yarn around various places, and use it for my sweet pea vines. GA
