Screening an ugly shed

Hello All!

I would love to hear some creative ideas on how I can screen my neighbour's ugly garden shed from my view. I can only see the top of third of it over my fence and it is mostly screened by their own greenery in the summer, but in the winter it is such an eyesore. Please help!

RE: Screening an ugly shed

I saw this done on TV. Construct a pergola on your side of the fence using six 8ft landscape timbers constructed like 3 ladders; 1 ladder for the top, the other 2 as the sides. Ladder crossbars were pressure treated deck railings. I built one last month. Once the vines you choose have grown to cover it in one season, you wont see your neighbors again. Adapt dimensions to fit your needs, but I used 8 ft timbers sunk into the ground 1ft, and 7ft tall seems just right. My next project is an 8ft tall trellis that will ad additional privacy to a small section of our 6ft privacy fence. It uses tree limbs cut in 8ft lengths, build 3 ladders, and lay them flat, 1 ft apart, connecting them using 3 wood scrap crossbars along the backs. I built it last week and it will be attached flat against the 6ft-privacy-fence posts very soon, and vines will cover it. Photos available upon request. Bonjour!

Merci! Sounds very interesting, would you send me a picture at my address below? If you have a picture of the trellis you have constructed too, as that might be more suitable for the space. There is a maple tree and a large garden bed on our side of the fence. My husband made an arbour out of old cedar posts and maple saplings last year, so your description sounds perfect.
