Decorating on screened porch

My husband and I made a great find at an antique store the other day. A lady had taken old windows and used an outdoor flag (like you'd fly from your porch) and attached them behind the window so the picture showed through the panes of glass.

One is a great blue Heron on a large window with a single pane, the other two are slightly smaller w/4 panes: one is a beach with baby sea turtles heading for the water, the other is of shells on the beach.

We want to hang these on our screened deck, approx 14 x14. We want to hang them above the double French doors where you walk out onto the deck.

Where we're running into trouble is two-fold.

1. What to hang them with (we're thinking right now of two long flat pcs of metal that come down from the top ledger and we'd screw the picture to that (don't want to make holes in the siding!).

2. How to hang them... we've thought of the Heron in the center above the doors with the smaller pictures to the sides and down a bit on each side or should the smaller pictures be in line with the big one? centered? even at bottom or top?? We're having trouble agreeing on this so please help us!!! :)

Thanks a lot!

Meenie

RE: Decorating on screened porch

We used the metal peices that came down from the top like you said and used metal screws.

I don't like things hanging in a straight line so would hang at different levels. but that's my likes, so can't help you there.

I used cup hooks screwed into the wooden frame of the decorative window sash, then into the wooden frame of windows in my house. Then any length of chain is used from hook to hook. I hang old window sashes in my windows that I painted using glass paint to simulate stained glass. This has worked very well. As for your arrangement, hard to say without seeing it.
