Bamboo chime sail

| I have a set of bamboo chimes that has a really long sail lead, string, whatever it's called.
If I adjust it shorter so our heads aren't connecting with it, will it affect the sound?
There's really nowhere else to hang the chimes, that's why I'd like to shorten the lead. |

The sound is made from the length of the bamboo rods. If you shorten the string that is the one which catches the wind to make the disc or sail hit the bamboo rods, then it probably will not chime as often, but won't affect the musical sound. You would have to change the lengths of the bamboo for that to happen. Can you shorten the top part, from which it is suspended?? That might help or perhaps put it somewhere else eh?! Cheers |

| Ever since buying it I've been looking around trying to figure where else I could hang it. The patio that's 3/4 covered has a vinyl siding ceiling. It's a rental place & I'm afraid to drill any holes. Right now it's hanging from the fascia, or whatever, that has a lip I was able to clip a gutter hook to. The top of the chime is already short so there's really no shortening it any more. =( |
