I need some help here. Need to know best method of painting some old dark stained louvered doors. I want them white for a privacy screen and going to attach them to my little "cottage shed" I am fixing up. Is it better to labor with paint brush or just spray paint. I assume it'll take more than one coat. Ugh, louvers so hard to do. Any advice appreciated. Mert

I would take a wire brush to them, then clean off the dust. Spray them first with the new "sealer" out. Then spray paint them the color you want. BUT a lot of people on these forums are saying that a brush-on will last longer than a spray. I have no personal experience on that subject. I hesitate to say it was Kilz spray, cause I did not see the name on the can they were holding on one of the home improvement shows. The sealer should help if you have oil paint and want to put on water based on it...or vice versa.

Use a primer, kilz is good after wirebrushing it than you can paint with any color you like. Seal it after you are finished for the outside.
