Fountain echoes - sounds hollow

I purchased a nice-looking resin fountain over the weekend, a ridged sphere on a pedestal - the best I could get in my price range. It sounded great in the store, but not as great at home. I have it next to the house, sitting directly on dirt in a slightly raised bed, which for various reasons is where it needs to be. We've played with the water flow but it still echoes and sounds hollow. I think it would sound better if it had more water in it, but the instructions say specifically not to fill it higher than where it's marked inside. Any ideas on how to get a more soothing sound? Set it on styrofoam? Put some rocks in the bottom? Put more plants around it?

Thanks in advance.

Your fountain isn't fiberglass is it? I saw those at a nursery & thought they had a funny sound.

I bought a ceramic fountain from Lowe's, I think, about 2 months ago.
It, too, sounded great in the store, but after getting it home and setting it up in the backyard, I noticed it sounds 'hollow' or something...LOL!
I lay in bed at night and 'hear it'...ugh!
I wanted something that emitted a soothing sound., but whaddaya want fer 30 bucks, eh? LOLAM

HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF INSULATING IT INSIDE WITH FOAM?
MAYBE WITH INSULATION?
