shower curtains as outdoor fabric?

| Will they fade out do you think? I have a large gazebo with 10 openings (windows) and I have been planning for years to cozy it up. I purchased a shower curtain with stripes, its like a polyester-ish satin type material and it was not expensive. I might do a test run but I just want to make curtain panels at the top of the openings, where it arches, to cozy it up, and add color. They should be rain resistant but don't know about sun resistant. probably not. However, on sale and considering I will get 2 or 3 panels out of a single shower curtain, maybe I can get a season out of them. I was thinking I would cut rectangles about 2 feet long and as wide as the openings, then put a dowel at the top and bottom to keep the flapping in the wind to a minimum. Attach some hooks inside and simply place the curtains on the hooks with easy removal? What do you think? karen |

Not sure Karen, but it sure sounds like a cute, worthwhile idea. Perhaps a Scotchguard spray would extend the life of them some. It supposedly seals fabrics from stains, so maybe it would block out the UV rays of the sun as well. Might be worth reading the label or e-mailing the company and asking (3m makes it, I think) Anyway, just my 2 cents worth. I like your idea a lot, I think it is very creative. Have fun, Jan |

| I read where Krylon is making a uv protectant spray for fabric--I've checked locally but no one carried it--maybe you can check into it |
