 o
staining terra cotta pots?

Posted by Carol_Ann z8 WA (My Page) on

Anyone ever stained clay pots with a wood siding type stain (I think there are also stains made for concrete?)? I'm interested mainly in darkening my pots but also adding a bit of color -- a bit of burgandy or brown, irregularly applied -- to make them more interesting and rustic and bring out colors in foliage of the plants.

Thanks for any help!

RE: staining terra cotta pots?

I haven't done clay pots but I stained my chiminea using the blue stain I put on my deck. It worked great, although, after sitting outside in the snow all winter, it could use another coat. I also stained every other brick surrounding my mulch garden. That has held up well.
