| When our new patio was built, we included a fire pit which is a recessed area surrounded by rocks and lined with coarse gravel. The pit is just off the side of the patio and is surrounded by a perennial garden.
If we burn a fire directly in the pit, when it is not in use, it will have black ashes and partially burned logs which wouldn't be very attractive.
If we put one of those copper fire pits in the area, I'm concerned we would end up with the same black ashes always in view unless we find a pit with a lid.
If the lid is mesh, when it rains, where does the water go? Are there holes in the bottom of the pits to drain water?
If the lid is vinyl, it will be in view all the time - and I'm not crazy about the look of vinyl in a garden.
Any ideas or advice on how to have a fire pit in a garden that looks attractive when not in use???
