Looking for a Giant Windchime

I'm looking for a windchime that I saw somthing like 10 years ago at a party. There were only 4 notes and the pipes were huge , about 4 or 6 feet. They would resonate real low like a foghorn almost. I saw them at a vacation house on the eastern coast. I've tried web searches and I can't find anything that big. Anyone seen any on the web or know who I can contact? I'm afraid that they were custom jobs that someone had to have made. Thank you for any info.
Lee :)

Here it is. Kind of pricy but it does sound nice.

Lee, do a search for giant windchime(s) here at gardenweb searching all forums. There is a picture of one made with long aluminum tubing.

I've been lusting for the same kind of windchime, Monte for about 8 years now, but as you said, they're so pricy. They do indeed sound wonderful and I would love to have one.

Better check with the neighbors before investing in one of these giant wind chimes.

Here's the page from HGTV with the chimes on it. They really did sound wonderful, and I'm one of those that doesn't like windchimes. These I could handle, though, it's the tinkly ones that make me crazy. LOL

You could try making your own. There is a formula for cutting large chimes to ring specific notes, but you might be just as happy with a cut-and-see-how-it sounds approach.

There’s an online message board that deals with constructing and tuning wind chimes, including the large ones---http://groups.yahoo.com/group/windchimeconstruction/

If you only want information on making large chimes there’s a series of messages from this board dealing only with large chimes at--http://www.geocities.com/teeley2/bigchime.html

A list of all construction aspects of wind chime messages compiled by subject is found here--http://www.geocities.com/teeley2/message.html
