Help! My Arbor just fell down!!

I have one of those cheap metal arbors that was holding my Sweet Autumn Clematis and the darn thing just fell down.....the legs are gone. Now my Clematis is on the ground and I need to get it back up. I don't want to invest in a nicer arbor yet because my son is designing a nice wooden one for me. It won't be ready this year though. Does anyone know how I could anchor the metal arbor into the ground just for the rest of the summer and fall?? Thanks for any help!

Do you have any old metal poles - try Walmart or a camping supply store for tent poles for now. It's getting towards the end of the selling season for this stuff, bet you can find them on sale somewhere. Try using rope/string to hold it all together - or just for now, try duct tape. What the heck, to save your plants I'd be going with duct tape.

I had the same thing happen earlier this year. I used 1/2" copper pipes (in lengths of 4-5 feet) to prop it back up until I could build the new wood arbour.

I hammered them into the ground as far as they would go against the location of the rusted arbour legs, and then secured the old with the new with duct tape.

When the new arbour was ready, I removed the duct tape and could reuse the pipes for other projects.

I hope your vine is fine.

Thanks ladies! You are awesome!! I had thought of using some kind of posts...love the copper pipe idea....but wasn't sure how to attach the old to the new. I should have known...good old duct tape. LOL I think my vine is fine....just going to be fun to put the whole thing back up!

Don't feel bad, dumb me planted one on my lamp post. I knew better, but just wanted to try it. After a couple of seasons during the winter, my lamp post light quit working. Figured the bulb was just out, but the vines were covering it all up, so I waited till Spring to change. When digging in there to uncover the vines, found the lamp sitting sideways ;-) oops! bent the whole fixture. Needless to say, she was relocated. I do have a good picture of her out there to remind me, she was beautiful though.
