Solar-powered landscape lights: Suggestions?

Posted by topie (My Page) on

Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for solar-powered landscape lights that they are happy with. We're looking for solar-powered lights that are very bright and well-constructed.

Would like to find something more attractive and ornamental than the floodlight style lights, maybe a lantern-style light. Our house is 130 years old so we'd prefer if the lights aren't too modern-looking.

Currently have an old set of those plastic stake-in-the-ground path lights, and the stakes just seem to shatter from the freezing and thawing of the ground. Tried removing the plastic stakes and sticking the metal rods in the ground, but they just fall over after a while. The light they give off is just not that bright either.

Recommendations from anyone that has solar landscape lights in an area with cold winters, warm summers, spring rain, and summer thunderstorms would be most appreciated.

I have been very happy with my qvc solar lights, i have a set that where brandless on shepards hooks, that are awesome, and a set from westinghouse brand that they carry that are great too! Even in overcast weather they come on at night, andreally
shine well. they have a great return policy ,30 days to trythem and if you arent happy you return them. Hope that helps!

We purchased Westinghouse stainless steel solar lights. They shine very bright and are easily recharged, even on a cloudy day. This is our second season with them and I have no complaints.
Solar lighting has come a long way in recent years.

My son got me some for a gift that are on the shepard's hook (which are metal, not plastic). I have had them in the ground for about 7 years. Where we use to live, we had very cold freezing winters and I never brought them in. Now we live in very rainy weather in the spring and warm in the summer, still leave them out year round. Have not changed the batteries yet either. They look old fashion, too. The newer ones he has bought me, with just the stakes with lantern on top (plastic), two have broken already. Hope this helps.
