Walmart arbor---2002 and 2004

I've got star jasmine and English ivy trained on it. The terra cotta sun in the second pic was on the discount table at Garden Ridge for $1.50.

Beautiful! Your garden is lovely.
And how did you get the arbor so
neat looking? I have some ivy growing
in a pot, going up a trellis....what a mess.

Wow! Did you miss the sleeping or creeping stage? I think you went directly to leaping! Laughing with admiration.

I bought one of those arbors, planted climbing roses on it. Novice at the time, no one told me that 'Mermaid' could dismantle anything less than treated 6x6's! It had taken my little arbor and bent it, pulled it in 4 different directions, and dismantled it in about 3 months.
DH just grinned when I put the derned thing in, roared with laughter as each piece was disconnected and/or disfigured by this beast. DH does have a mean streak...

I did finally kill those roses- took me awhile, but I did it. LOL

Enjoyed the Mermaid story. The Walmart arbor probably is just about strong enough to handle the vines I have growing on it. The pot of esperanza in front is reblooming....here's a photo of that now.....

Your garden is beautiful ladybug. I love the terra cotta sun, what a deal you found! It's amazing how much a garden can change from year to year.

Your arbor is just what I want! So far, I have not been able to find an arbor that I really like. I will keep looking! I have a bay window in my dining room that looks out at a fence. My dining room is done with what I guess could be called an old-fashioned garden theme. I made my valances from material which has flowers that look like a Monet painting. Now it is time to make the outside look pretty too! The house needed a lot of TLC inside, so that had to be priority.
