 o
staining a concrete driveway

I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum for my question but here goes. I have a long concrete driveway that is old and has cracks. I think it would add curb appeal if I could apply a colored stain. I would need to do the work myself. This driveway is in the front and is rarely used since most parking is done in back on gravel. I will be pressure washing the concrete first. Has anyone done staining? I am looking at the Quikrete multi surface concrete sealer which can be colored and use a long handled paint roller to do the job. How often will I need to restain and is it worth the time and expense to stain? The concrete is not smooth so I think the stain would adhere to the pores without problems but will the stain flake off in time? I don't want to start something that ends up looking horrible or needs constant maintenance. Thanks for any and all responses.

RE: staining a concrete driveway

Yes, we stained our entire driveway, walk and garage, using a stencil, big job but it stayed nice till hurricane charley ruined it, had an overlay process done then, but garage is still our work..here's a pic.

we cleaned it down with TSP first, pressure wash is okay too, you must seal after stain with clear top coat...

Here is a link that might be useful: photo bucket...
