Off topic...painting/sealing palm wood?

I need some tips on painting and sealing wood tikis and furniture for outdoor use. I have an older weathered tiki that I would like to put in a moister environment (in a ginger filled bed). I also picked up a few new ones over the weekend, while in mexico, that the wife would like painted for a more totem-like look. I was going to to paint then use a matte finish varnish or maybe a marine varnish, but don't have a clue about the products or methods necessary. I also have a cool burnished wood table that I would like to keep outside, but it would also need weather protection. Sunshine and rain/watering are what I am up against. Anybody got any products, methods, websites they can recommend

Not sure if the site below will help you. It is a very cool site though!

You might try emailing Bosko directly

Here is a link that might be useful: Great tiki site
