pile of pavers

When we had our driveway and patio done with pavers the installers had about 3 pallets left over in assorted sizes. They dumped them in a huge pile in the empty lot next door intending to come back for them. They've gone out of business and those pavers are just sitting there in a heap. Other companies don't want to deal with them because the sizes have to be sorted and they need cleaning. I'm not that particular. What can I do with them other than have the new neighbors haul them away when they clear their lot?

I would start hauling those babies onto my property as fast as possible! As for uses; walkways, flower bed curbings, mosaic them for use in the garden or to sell.I think you could find lots of uses for them,or at least I could!.......Lillie

The 16x16 & the 8x16s make pretty good pedestals just dry-stacked. Althernate the directions on the 8x16s for stability.

Free pavers, let somebody toss them? WHAT???

I used our extras for edging. I set them in the ground so the top was level with the lawn on one end, and raised the back edge a little. The mower goes right over them and stays farther away from the plants. It ties in the patio gardens with the patio quite nicely. I wish I had more!

Okay, I'm claiming them. I'm not sure what I'll do yet, but they'll be put to good uses. I really am thinking of a walkway from our patio down to the lake. I'm going to see what I have as far as different sizes and try to establish a pattern or maybe I'll just "wing it".

I am absolutely, pathetically addicted to anything that resembles a brick-type object! I've done a lot of edging and entry ways with them and people actually get scared by the look I give them if they suggest that I give any away!!haha!

OMG I would just DIE if I had a free pile of pavers sitting around. Don't give those puppies up until every path, border, and stepping stone your heart desires is in place (and you have a stack of extras in the garage in case you change your mind or want to add something new.)

If you truly feel you are done with them, you can always post here or on one of the exchange forums and offer them to some local gardener in exchange for plants etc. I bet you could do a lot to populate your garden that way.

I just saw pavers used to make a checkerboard and a tic tac toe board in a lawn...ssooo cute! Of course you would have to supply your own checkers or tic tac toe tokens. (they used bunnies and turtles made of resin).
I'd keep them...and if I couldn't find a use for them, they'd be a great bartering item for something I DID want!!!

Darn, why can't I have that kind of luck! I was going to say if you weren't going to use them that I would take them off your hands. I'm guessing your not too far away from me.

Use them as the top of a cinderblock retaining wall to give it some class.

Make a hopscotch court. Your children will ignore it, but your older guests will find it irresistable.

Put them on the ground wherever you have a roof drip.

We put in a pathway of pine needles in our side yard that leads to the lake and I'm outlining the path with the pavers, laid flat, end to end. I cannot believe how good this looks. I'll post pictures when I'm done. And to think I was going to let these get tossed. What was I thinking?

Good for you!! Now you're thinking. All of us would kill for such an opportunity.

Slowly but surely I'm making I'm making a dent in that pile of pavers. This is the pathway I created from the front side of the house down to the lake. And the pile is still huge!

So lovely Mona. How far south are you, flowers bluming in FEB! I live in GA and every winter I tell DH We didn't move far enough south. The cold in Dec got all my pretties, they will come back but I hate to see all the dead plants. Pam

We are just starting to see the results of hard work after the hurricanes. We're in the Tampa area and don't usually have hard freezes. The Bush Daisies you see have been wonderful about blooming for me most of the year. I have red salvia, snap dragons, bush daisies and impatiens in the front beds.

Pavers! Are you kidding? You would even consider letting someone cart them off? Paaaaleeeeez...NO! There are a million and one things...really neat things...you can do with them!

We have dug hundreds of those things out of very dry, hard ground with only a screwdrivers for tools...in 100 degree heat...just so we could have them. We have bought hundreds of them. We edge our gardens, build pedestals and fountains, create walls and all sorts of things with those beautiful things.

We had hundreds of them edging gardens and forming planters at our old house. When we were ready to sell and move...we dug them up and stacked them in the driveway to be ready for the move. We replaced them in the gardens with cheap brick.

I've built fountains, enclosures for under birdfeeder with landscape cloth underneath (so the birdseed is easier to clean up), built walls and you name it with those awesome things.

If you weren't so darned far away...I'd be there with bells on to take them off your handsl!! *LOL*

Keep 'em!

RE: pile of pavers

Well, those of you wanting the pavers are out of luck. Sorry. Once I got started edging the beds and outlining a path in the side yard I started finding other uses for them. I even arranged some of them to lift a wall fountain (that my husbands refuses to drill holes in the wall for) to a higher level and staggered the heights to form niches for bromeliades and ferns. I'm busy sorting out the remainder of them so we can plan a seating pad out near the lake. I thank all of you for making me aware of the possibilities of these "discards". I will post pictures of the results tomorrow.
