 o
quality outdoor thermometer?

If one exists, I am looking for an outdoor thermomter that will not read 120 degrees when the sun is shining on it in the summertime when the actual temperature is 90 degrees. It would be for the west side of the house (no shade options, but that is where the patio is located). What is your favorite outdoor thermomter? Where did you get it?

We use windandweather.com they have great quality and are great to deal with.

I did some online research and discovered that the thermometer must be placed in a shaded area with adequate air circulation and preferably 4 -6 feet of the ground in order to work properly. I am looking into a weather station, and setting one of those up properly opens up another can of worms, too, like placing the sensor in a Stephenson (spelling?) Screen. All this fun for getting outdoor temperature from the comfort of your house!

We gave up on dial thermometers. We now have a digital. The outdoor part hangs from our out door light fixture, under the eaves. The read out portion is inside and tells us max., min.,and indoor temps. We got it a a local big box store, and it was under $20.00

I got one from Brookstone for Christmas...it is wireless with no outdoor sensor; instead it gets the weather information from the National Weather Service at the airport.

I don't know if it reads a satelite signal or a radio signal, but I do know there has to be a local National Weather Service weather station nearby for it to be accurate or else you have to buy a subscription.

I keep it in the dressing room so I know how to dress for the day, but I could move the receptor anywhere. I would prefer to look out the window at a thermometer, but we have the same problem: a 50° day might show 110°! It was driving me crazy!

An alternate I am thinking about for the backyard is an outdoor Gallileo thermometer.
